Now, before you answer, let me clarify what I mean here. Many of us think that we can just do the “Self-Help” fitness program in an attempt to lose weight, and we often end up with “self-help” kinds of results. You know the results your husband gets when he takes apart the kitchen sink in an attempt to fix a water leak. We can sometimes look at exercise as something that we can do without professional help. This mentality is kind of like when your husband thinks that he can fix the kitchen sink by just purchasing a “How-To” book without actually having any prior plumbing knowledge or training of the sort. It very often ends in failure…if not injury. In the case of the plumbing situation, you’d probably prefer to get a professional on the job so that you will know that’s its done right and without the inconvenience of having to live without your kitchen sink for an extended period of time, while your husband adopts the mindset that it’s an “easy” job that should only take a couple of hours.
Well, take a lesson from any past experiences you might have had to endure as a result of your husband’s “self-help” mindset. If you want to jump-start your metabolism and really start seeing the kind of results you envision for yourself, then you will most likely have to get some help with designing a program that suits all of your unique needs.
